"This afternoon scene was painted en plein air at Keokea on the grounds of St. John's church. Some areas of Maui are filled with action and others, like this scene, are filled with serenity. There is not another building in this view across central Maui to the West Maui Mountains and out to sea towards the Island of Lanai. Kealia Pond is the wildlife refuge below, and the Kihei-Wailea coastline."
